Distortion, 2023

This project demonstrates routine through the lens of extreme change and anxiety. Coming together in an immersive exhibiton in which the floors and walls reflected the visual quailities of the work through painting, projection, fashion and framed imagery can also be seen. A combination of photographic techniques explored all aspects of distroted time, while 3D printing, extensive writing and lighting surround the viewer, engaging and forcing them to sit with discomfort.
Derived from Alvin Langdon Coburn’s invention of the ‘vortoscope’ - a handheld tunnel of mirrors used to reflect the subject over and over, before a camera. The images he created came to be known as ‘Vortographs’. The following photos were taken the same way.
